The Challenge

Managing construction across 22 remote islands with multiple contractors, limited connectivity, and no unified visibility system posed unprecedented coordination challenges.

  • Remote island locations with limited infrastructure and connectivity
  • Multiple contractors operating independently without unified oversight
  • No real-time progress visibility across scattered construction sites
  • Safety monitoring challenges in harsh coastal environments
  • Delayed issue detection leading to costly project overruns
  • Manual reporting consuming significant management resources

Our Solution

We deployed an integrated smart construction ecosystem combining AI surveillance, IoT monitoring, and drone reconnaissance - all connected to a centralized command hub.

AI CCTV Network

500+ cameras across all islands with satellite-enabled connectivity and edge AI processing

IoT Sensor Infrastructure

3000+ devices monitoring equipment health, environmental conditions, and logistics movement

Drone Operations Center

12 survey drones with 4 autonomous charging hubs for daily aerial surveillance

Centralized Command Hub

The Vision

The Red Sea Project represents one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious tourism developments under Vision 2030. Spanning 28,000 km² with construction across 22 pristine islands, this regenerative tourism destination aims to set new global standards for sustainable luxury.

For Red Sea Global, the challenge wasn’t just about building world-class resorts—it was about doing so across one of the most logistically complex construction environments imaginable.

The Challenge

When Red Sea Global approached us, they faced a seemingly insurmountable coordination challenge. Construction was underway simultaneously on 22 islands, each with multiple contractors, different work schedules, and varying levels of progress.

The core problems were clear:

  • Geographic isolation: Each island required boat or helicopter access, making site visits time-consuming and expensive
  • Fragmented oversight: Project managers relied on contractor self-reporting, leading to information gaps
  • Connectivity limitations: Remote locations lacked reliable communication infrastructure
  • Safety concerns: Harsh coastal conditions and scattered worksites made safety monitoring nearly impossible
  • Delayed decisions: By the time issues were identified and reported, they had often escalated

The traditional approach of weekly site visits and manual progress reports was failing. Red Sea Global needed eyes everywhere, all the time.

Our Approach

We proposed an integrated smart construction ecosystem that would bring all 22 islands into a single, unified monitoring platform. The solution combined four key technologies:

1. AI-Powered CCTV Network

We deployed over 500 cameras across all construction sites, connected via a hybrid satellite and marine fiber network. Each camera featured edge AI processing for:

  • Real-time PPE compliance detection
  • Unauthorized access alerts
  • Progress tracking through visual change detection
  • Automated incident documentation

2. IoT Sensor Infrastructure

More than 3,000 IoT sensors were installed to monitor:

  • Equipment health and utilization
  • Environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, wind speed)
  • Material deliveries and inventory levels
  • Worker presence and movement patterns

3. Drone Surveillance Operations

We established 4 autonomous drone charging hubs across the development, operating 12 survey drones that provided:

  • Daily aerial progress photography
  • Weekly 3D site mapping
  • On-demand emergency response flights
  • Thermal inspections of completed structures

4. Centralized Command Hub

All data feeds into a purpose-built command center featuring:

  • Real-time dashboards for each island
  • AI-generated daily progress reports
  • Predictive analytics for schedule risks
  • Integrated communication with all contractors

The Results

Within 10 months of deployment, Red Sea Global saw transformational improvements:

Operational Efficiency: +35% Unified visibility eliminated redundant site visits and enabled faster decision-making. Project managers now resolve issues in hours instead of days.

Safety Response Time: -83% Average incident response dropped from 30+ minutes to under 5 minutes. AI-powered alerts notify safety teams before situations escalate.

Report Automation: 7x Faster What previously required a team of coordinators working all week now generates automatically every morning.

Incident Prevention: 40% Reduction Predictive alerts for safety violations and equipment issues catch problems before they become incidents.

Looking Forward

The success at Red Sea has established a new standard for mega-project construction management. Red Sea Global is now expanding the system to cover their second phase of development, with plans to integrate BIM comparison and automated progress tracking against project schedules.

This case study demonstrates how the right technology integration can transform even the most challenging construction environments into efficiently managed, safe, and visible operations.

Managing construction across 22 remote islands seemed impossible until FI Tech's integrated AI surveillance and IoT solution connected everything. We now have unprecedented visibility and control over our entire development program.
